Microchip Technology Again Recognized for Workplace Excellence
Company Makes Training Magazine's Coveted Top 125 List; Selected as One of Phoenix Business Journal's Best Places to Work
CHANDLER, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Microchip Technology Inc. (NASDAQ: MCHP), a leading provider of microcontroller and analog semiconductors, today announced that it has again been recognized for workplace excellence. First, the Company has made Training Magazine's coveted Top 125 list, the most elite ranking among Fortune 500 companies for employee training and learning development. Second, Microchip was selected by the Phoenix Business Journal as one of the "Best Places to Work in the Valley," placing it among the top-30 large (250+ employees) Arizona companies to work for, because of the way Microchip creates an engaged and supportive workforce.
Companies selected for Training Magazine's prestigious Top 125 list were chosen based upon criteria provided in an application process, such as how training strategically links to the organization's business objectives; what formal development programs are in existence and how robust they are; the number of hours of training provided; how training is evaluated; and tuition reimbursement policies. Microchip is one of only a few organizations of its size to have made Training Magazine's "Top" lists twice in the past, indicative of the Company's steadfast commitment to training its employees and enabling its unique culture of continuous improvement.
The "Best Places to Work in the Valley" award resulted from responses to an anonymous employee-satisfaction survey that was distributed to Microchip employees, and administered by an independent research firm. Microchip is the only semiconductor company in Arizona to have received the award.
"The recognition we have received from both Training Magazine and the Phoenix Business Journal speaks volumes about the success of Microchip's corporate culture," said Lauren Carr, director of Human Resources for Microchip.
"We attribute employees' satisfaction to the pride and ownership they have for their jobs, as well as the opportunities for training that we provide. Microchip believes that all of this keeps employees engaged, which helps make the Company prosperous."
"The recognition we continue to receive validates two of Microchip's core values--one being that employees are our greatest strength; the other that continuous improvement is essential," said Steve Sanghi, president and CEO of Microchip Technology Inc. "In order to attract and retain the best talent, we strive to provide career opportunities that promote teamwork, integrity and pride in work. We also provide numerous opportunities for continuous learning through our Employee Development department. The result is productive employees who take ownership of their jobs, and are in control of their professional lives."
Rankings on Training Magazine's Top 125 list will be announced at an event at the Georgia World Congress Center on February 4, 2008.
