Microchip and CEO Steve Sanghi Receive Top Honors for Business Excellence From Three Separate Organizations
EE Times Magazine, the Phoenix Business Journal and the Arizona Business Leadership Association All Recognize Sanghi and Microchip for Leading Culture and No Layoffs
CHANDLER, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Microchip Technology Inc. (NASDAQ: MCHP), a leading provider of microcontroller and analog semiconductors, today announced that Microchip and CEO Steve Sanghi won top honors from the most prestigious business-excellence awards program in the electronics industry, and the top two awards from the Arizona business community. All three cited Microchip's outstanding culture, and the integrity that executives have shown in living out the guiding values of that culture. Most importantly, Steve Sanghi tangibly demonstrated his commitment to Microchip's guiding value that "Employees Are Our Greatest Strength" by steadfastly insisting that Microchip remain the only major semiconductor company to avoid a layoff throughout the recession.
"For more than 20 years Steve Sanghi has led Microchip, through both good and challenging periods, with integrity, passion and a sincere concern for employees, customers and shareholders," said Albert Hugo-Martinez, Microchip board member. "On behalf of the Microchip Board of Directors, I wish to congratulate Steve on this remarkable industry recognition of his inspirational leadership, and for role modeling all of the very best attributes of a CEO."
EE Times is one of the leading electronics publications, and their Annual Creativity in Electronics (ACE) Awards is the most prestigious industry honor for business excellence. Sanghi was named their 2010 "Executive of the Year," which follows Microchip's 2009 honors for "Company of the Year." Finalists were selected by the editors of EE Times, and the winner was chosen by a panel of distinguished industry judges, based on the executive's leadership, and technological and fiscal vision. Their award ceremony was held last week at the Embedded Systems Conference in San Jose, CA.
The Arizona Business Leadership (ABL) Association will award Microchip its 2010 Arizona Business Leadership Award. The ABL Association honors one company every year that has shown leadership within the Arizona business community and within the nominee's own industry, excelled at financial growth, created a strong company culture, promoted community activity and supported business education.
Finally, Sanghi was named to the Phoenix Business Journal's annual list of the Most Admired CEOs. Both the Arizona Business Leadership Association and the Phoenix Business Journal will host separate award ceremonies on this Thursday, May 6.
